Carmel Y. Lachance, 84, of Manchester, NH, passed away at Elliot Hospital on February 8, 2026. Born in Manchester on April 24, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Florence (Malo) Francoeur. She was the wife of the late Roger Lachance, who she married on May 30, 1960 and shared 59 years of marriage .
A lifelong Manchester resident, Carmel graduated from West High School in 1958 and went on to spend 40 years working as a waitress at Blake’s Restaurant on Manchester’s West Side. She found great comfort in her Catholic faith as a parishioner of the Parish of the Transfiguration. In earlier years, Carmel and Roger shared a love of square dancing and motorcycle adventures. Their passion for travel took them across the globe to many European countries, and they delighted in taking their grandchildren along on special trips. Carmel will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished every moment with her family.
Carmel is survived by her daughters, Linda Tedesco of Manchester and Liza Doucet and her husband Marc of Concord; her sister, Suzanne Lane; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Skillings, Chantal Doucet, Brian Doucet, and Andrew Doucet; as well as seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Aime and Marcel Francoeur, Claire Soley, Doris Lapointe, and Fleurette Farabaugh.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at the Parish of the Transfiguration, 305 Kelley Street, Manchester, NH. She will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmel’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/ or to Shriners Children’s https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/
