On Monday, March 4, 2019, Carol A. Baker (Pynn) 77, of South Hampton, died peacefully after a yearlong battle with lung cancer.

She was born on December 8, 1941, in Wakefield, MA the daughter of the late Chester and Marjorie Pynn. She was raised and educated in Melrose, MA.

She was theTown Clerk for 23 years, Tax Collector for 4 years, and unofficial dog warden (as she brought home strays that were brought to her) in South Hampton.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Larry Baker. Her three children: Dan Baker and his wife Beth of Hudson, Kim Cremin and her husband Dennis of South Hampton and Jon Baker and his wife Trudi of Topsfield MA. Five grandchildren: Connor & Aidan Cremin, Calleigh & Braeden Baker and baby girl Baker, due this May. She is also survived by her sister Beverly Hogg and her husband Dick.

In her Life: Carol was a devoted Christian attending and serving the South Hampton Baptist Church for 45 years. She served as the treasurer for many years. In her retirement years, she and Larry enjoyed traveling around the US, Canada and Mexico in their motor home, traveling to all but 4 US states, all 10 Canadian provinces plus Yukon teritory and 10 Mexican states. They spent the last seven winters in their second home in Palm Coast, Florida. Some of their favorite pastimes were kayaking on the PowWow river, boating the canals, and walking the many scenic trails of Palm Coast and getting together with with their motor home friends all over the north east.

In addition to caring for her family, Carol loved and cared for many pets over her lifetime including several horses that she kept in her barn in South Hampton. Carol loved riding her horses, doing various craft projects and in her later years she loved line dancing. Carol will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and her inability to tell jokes without laughing too hard to finish.

There will be a service and celebration of her life at 2:00 PM, March 23 at the South Hampton Baptist Church, 10 Jewell St, South Hampton, NH.

In lieu of flowers, Carol's wishes were to have memorial donations made to the American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html or the New Hampshire SPCA https://nhspca.org/donate-today/. Checks should be made payable to the New Hampshire SPCA and mailed to PO Box 196, 104 Portsmouth Avenue, Stratham, NH 03885. Please indicate on the check memo or cover note that the gift is in memory of Carol Baker.
