Carol M. Farrell

Carol M. Farrell, 82, of Concord, NH, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 26, 1942, to Byron L. Mathewson and Barbara Mathewson, Carol grew up in Concord, where she graduated from Concord High School in 1960. 

Shortly after high school, Carol met the love of her life, Frank Farrell. Together, they embarked on a life filled with love, adventure, and family. Their journey began in Texas, followed by a move to Rockport, MA, before settling back in Concord, NH, to start their family. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, always putting the people she loved at the center of her life.

Carol’s greatest joy was her family. She was a dedicated and involved mother to her son, Elliott Farrell, and daughter, Denise Durgin, pouring her heart into every milestone and memory they shared. She was affectionately known as "Grammy" to her grandchildren, a role she cherished and embraced with love, laughter, and plenty of hugs. 

Carol's commitment to her community and faith was evident in her long-time service to Emmanuel Community Church, where she served as treasurer and clerk. Her joyful, can-do spirit extended to every aspect of her life, whether she was organizing Cub Scout Pack 295 as a den mom, sharing adventures with Frank on his motorcycle, or preparing feasts for family cookouts and celebrations. 

An avid traveler, Carol and Frank explored the United States and Canada, often combining their love of the open road with ocean cruises that brought them to new destinations. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—camping, sewing, gardening, and cooking. She especially loved creating a welcoming home filled with laughter, delicious food, and the warmth of family and friends. 

Carol will be remembered for her happy-go-lucky personality, her boundless energy, and the love and joy she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her. Her ability to light up a room with her laughter and her unwavering dedication to her loved ones will never be forgotten.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Farrell; her son, Elliott Farrell; her daughter, Denise Durgin; and her cherished grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Grammy.” She also leaves behind extended family and countless friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, with a brief service at 2:00 PM, at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 172 King Street, Boscawen, NH.
