It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Grayson, 83, at Weeks Medical Center, on May 15, 2025, after several years of declining health.
Born in Littleton, NH to Arthur Schoff and Ethelyn Clough, Carol grew up in Lisbon and Littleton, NH and graduated from Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg, Maine in 1959. After graduation, Carol moved to Boston where she was employed with the Telephone Company. She later moved to Lisbon, NH for a brief period before finally settling down at Partridge Lake in Littleton where she lovingly raised her four sons with the support of her late father. One of her proudest accomplishments was providing a stable and loving home while ensuring each of her sons had the opportunity to attend college—a goal she worked tirelessly to fulfill.
Carol spent a 50-year career in healthcare and was an early and well-respected leader in the design, sales, and installation of hospital computer systems nationwide. A tireless traveler, Carol did whatever was necessary to help her customers understand their computers, operate their systems, and maximize the benefits of this powerful technology. As the field grew, Carol’s career included management positions in the healthcare technology divisions of virtually every major corporation in the industry, including IBM, GTE, Baxter Travenol, Healthvision, and Eclipsys. She retired as Manager of Sales Operations and Marketing Support for Quadramed Corporation in 2016.
After retiring, Carol settled down in Gig Harbor, WA so she could be closer to her grandchildren on the west coast. Her favorite hobbies included quilting, reading, cooking, and baking with her grandchildren. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Carol played an active role in the lives of her family and remained a guiding presence as they grew and found their own paths in life.
Carol is survived by her sister, Dawn Schoff of Landaff NH, her stepsister Gail Whitcomb of Massena, NY (partner Bill Drinkwine), 3 sons with her second husband, Richard Grayson: Rick Grayson of Gig Harbor, WA (wife Jeanne), Tom Grayson of Klamath Falls, OR (wife Megan), and Dan Grayson of Nashua, NH, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son with her first husband, Charles Padrenicola: Arthur Grayson of Tallahassee, FL,
Carol’s warmth and dedication extended beyond her immediate family. She shared a special bond with her best friend Mark Cessa, with whom she loved traveling to Las Vegas, and she treasured her long-distance conversations with dear friend Sue Cohen of Rhode Island.
Carol's legacy is one of strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
