Manchester

Surrounded by loved ones, Carol Helen (Reno) O'Brien, 85, of Manchester, passed away on December 12, 2023, at the Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Worcester, MA, on November 29, 1938, to Doris and Edward Reno. During most of her young life, Carol lived between Brooksville, ME and Worcester, MA. After graduation, Carol trained to be a licensed practical nurse at Aroostook State Teachers College (now University of Maine at Presque Isle) and met her husband of 54 years, John O'Brien, whom she married in 1961.

With John in the United States Air Force, Carol moved around the country, including New York, Nebraska, Mississippi, California, and back to Maine. With two children in tow, Carol settled in Manchester, where she lived for her final 48 years.

In Manchester, she was a loving mother who was also a respected nurse, working at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center much of her career. After retirement, she loved gardening, maintaining her home, and spending time with her younger sisters, Connie and Gail.

Carol is predeceased by her husband, John O'Brien, and sister, Gail O'Neill-Merchant. She is survived by two children: Edward O'Brien of Manchester, and Patricia Laliberte, and her husband, Mark, of Candia. Carol also loved her four grandchildren: Joseph and Benjamin O'Brien, and Emilie and Jared Laliberte. She is also survived by her sister, Constance Smith, and her husband, John, of Branford, CT.

The family would like to thank the Elliot Hospital for the care they have provided Carol throughout the years.
