CAROL SMITH MACMILLAN

BETHLEHEM, NH -- Carol Smith MacMillan, 81, passed away at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville NH, on July 27, 2016. Carol was born in Enigma, GA, on February 11, 1935 to Leon D. Smith and Hettie Mae Smith (née Boyette).

She graduated from Northeastern University in 1978 with a Master of Education degree, and from Boston University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Carol worked for the school systems of Clinton, MA and Fort Myers, FL as a speech therapist and special education teacher. She retired from the Fort Myers school system in 1995 and moved to Bethlehem, NH.

Carol loved many activities including painting, playing bridge, skiing and music. She had many friends and very much enjoyed their company. She loved animals including her beloved dogs Cricket and Maxwell. She was active in local conservation issues.

Carol was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Smith and her former husband Jerrold Harper MacMillan.

She is survived by her sister Sarah Mae Smith and brother Leon D. Smith, Jr.

Carol will be missed by her four children and spouses, William K. and Denise, Ernest H. and Jean, Margaret C., and Paul S. and Anne; by her grandchildren Daniel, Althea, Julia, Sam, Katherine, Heyoka, John, Nicolas, Amelia, and Natalie; by her great-grandson Henry and her many beloved nieces and nephews.

SERVICES -- A memorial service is planned for November 25, 2016, in Raleigh, NC.
