Carol A. (Clement) Van Uden, 72, of Manchester, passed away on May 3, 2008 at the Arbors of Bedford following a courageous battle with brain cancer surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Manchester on April 19, 1936, to Yvonne (Breton) Clement and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She was a graduate of Manchester West High School. For 22 years, she was employed by the Veterans Administration Regional Office, retiring as a benefits counselor. She was an avid golfer and was a long-time member Interval Country Club and past President of the Interval Country Club Women's Association. She was the Club representative to the NH Women's Golf Association and a member of NHWGA for 28 years. She had also been the Third Vice President for ten years and the membership coordinator for the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFA). She was a parishioner of St. Raphael Church for most of her life and had been a Girl Scout Leader. In Her Life: She leaves behind to honor her memory her husband of 54 years, Robert Van Uden; a son, Jim Van Uden and his wife Barbara of Hampden, ME; two daughters, Donna Cote and her husband Thomas of Tuftonboro, and Joyce Coryea and her husband James of Lee; six grandchildren; Diana (Cote) Peightell and her husband Chris, Alyssa (Cote) Barrow and her husband Matt, Elizabeth Van Uden, Alex Van Uden, Andrew Coryea and Lauren Coryea; a sister, Rita Gauthier of Manchester; and nephews, nieces and cousins. Her children and grandchildren were the focus of her life. She will be remembered most for her loving spirit and thoughtfulness to everyone she met. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Manchester on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:00 in St. Raphael Church, Manchester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
