Carole Ann (Clark) Smith

Carole Ann (Clark) Smith, of Concord, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the Concord Hospice House. She was the beloved wife of the late William Spooner Smith, Jr. They shared fifty-six years of marriage.

She was born on August 4, 1938 in Buffalo, New York and was the daughter of the late John E. and Louise (Denk) Clark. Upon graduating high school, Carole received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Syracuse University in 1960 and her Master's in Nursing Administration in 1979 from the State University of New York. Carole spent her nursing career at the VA Hospital in Buffalo, New York, and then in Manchester, New Hampshire, retiring as the Assistant Chief of Nursing. Carole valued education and by furthering hers she was able to have a successful career in Nursing.

Carole was an avid reader, liked to go antiquing, and loved to travel. She especially enjoyed going the beach and enjoyed a good dish of peach cobbler. She was a "Friend of Bill" for thirty-seven years. An accomplishment she was proud of. Above all, her family was of the utmost importance to her. She relished her time with them, and they will sorely miss her.

She is survived by her three daughters, Lisa Smith Mudge of Pembroke, Julie Clark Jones of Hillsborough and Leslie Smith-Dirksen of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two siblings, John E. Clark of Stow, MA and Deborah J. Clark of Williamsville of NY. She was also predeceased by her son, William Spooner Smith, III, her stepmother Frances Clark, and her stepbrother William "Tommy" Tompkins.

ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service for Carole will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Relatives and Friends are welcomed to attend.
