Cecile T. Mercier

Cecile T. (Cote) Mercier, 94, of Manchester, passed away on February 2, 2022, at Signature Healthcare in Ft. Myers, FL.

She was born in Manchester on July 24, 1927, the daughter of Esdras and Febronie (Toupin) Cote. Cecile was a Ste. Marie High School graduate and received a degree in music from Rivier College, specializing in voice and piano. Her first job was for Phaneuf Fountain Shop on Manchester’s West Side and then spent five years working for New England Telephone. She was also employed at Beneficial Finance for many years. Cecile was a long-time parishioner of the Parish of the Transfiguration and volunteered in their soup kitchen. She was also a supporter of the arts and volunteered as an usher at the Palace Theatre for several years.  She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Alfred “Fred” Mercier in 2018.

Family members include her Godson, Michael Couture along with many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

Calling hours will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester on Tuesday, February 15th from 9 to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 at the Parish of the Transfiguration. A committal service will follow in Mt.
