Charles C. Detch better known as Chuck died peacefully on April 14, 2015 at home from a recent diagnosis of cancer.

Born August 21, 1942, in Middletown, New York to Allen and Ruth Detch, he spent his lifetime in the agricultural field. Chuck farmed with his father and brother, worked for Kraft Foods in Galena, IL, John Deere at RN Johnson in Walpole, NH, Holstein Association of Brattleboro and Blue Seal Feeds in Brandon, VT. He retired in 2007 to enjoy his grandchildren, go hunting and fishing, farm with his brother and travel with his wife to Aruba and California.

A graduate of 1965 from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa with a B.S. in Dairy Science, he held memberships in: Dairy Shrine Club in Madison, WI, Elks Lodge 1499 in Brattleboro, VT, Holstein Foundation-charter member in Brattleboro, VT, Realtor Association of VT, First Congregational Church in West Brattleboro, and the National Rifleman Association, USA.

Survived by his loving wife, Erna, whom he married in Portland, CT on August 29, 1965; his son, Allen and wife Jeanette; his daughter, Susan and husband John Train and their children Alastair and Charlotte and his son, Michael and wife Heather and their children Alyson, Makenzie and Taylor, a brother, James A. Detch and wife Karen of Bullville, NY; a sister, Janet and husband Edward Haycook of Canton, NY; an aunt, Jean Shafer of Montgomery, NY; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at North Cemetery, Vernon Road, Vernon VT at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow. The KER-WESTERLUND FUNERALHO ME, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice for VT and NH, PO BOX 976 White River JCT, VT 05001.
