Charles Madulka

Charles Madulka, 84, of Manchester, passed away on September 3, 2012 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

He was born in Drenova, Albania on May 16, 1928, the son of Nassi and Marguerite (Cojo) Madulka. He immigrated to the United States over 80 years ago, living in Worcester for 30 years and had been a Manchester resident since 1960. He was a graduate of the Worcester Boys Trade High School and following graduation worked as a machinist. During this time, he was a standout member of the Ionic Ave Boy's Club basketball team which won the 1947 New England Championship. In 1951, he was drafted into the army and served in the Korean War. Following the war, he attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology and earned an associates degree in mechanical engineering. He had been employed by Sanders Associates for over 25 years as a machine and tool designer. Throughout his life, he was kind, giving and caring of others. His family was the most important part of his life and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Katherine (Thomas) Madulka who died in 1999.

Family members include his son, Timothy Madulka of Ballston Spa, NY; a daughter, Holly Madulka of Manchester; two grandchildren, Kassandra and Ryan Madulka; two brothers, Michael Madulka and his wife Robin of GA, and Robert Madulka and his wife Judy of MA; a sister, Helen Athanas of MA; and nephews, nieces and cousins.

A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Saturday from 3 PM to 4 PM with a celebration of his life service to follow in the funeral home at 4 PM. For more information or to view an on-line Tribute, go to www.phaneuf.net
