CHARLES L. MONTY

LITTLETON, NH  Charles L. Monty, age 77, beloved husband of JoAnn Monty, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at the Littleton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his wife and family.

Charlie was born on September 15, 1927, the son of Charles E. and Valeda (Bedard) Monty in Northfield, Vermont. He attended the Northfield Schools and later graduated from Cornell University.

Charlie was a Corporal of World War II, serving in Japan. He became employed in the grocery industry upon discharge from the armed services and was currently employed part-time at Shaws of Littleton as a Quality Control Clerk.

Charlie had many hobbies such as gardening, hiking, camping, walking, music, reading, and helping others. Being community and service oriented, he loved to help out in each town he lived in. He was a Boy Scout leader, a Decca Club Officer, served with the Lyndonville Rotary Club and the Lyndonville Board of Trustees, as well as the American Legion. Charlie was recently an active Member of the Littleton Lions Club, a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Plaque, Lion of the Year 1993-1994, and the District Governs Appreciation Plaque in 2005. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, serving on many committees.

Charlie had an infectious smile and regardless of how bad things were he had a smile for everyone. He always looked for the good in everyone. Everyone that knew him, loved him and he will be missed by all of us.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 31 years, JoAnn Monty of Littleton; his daughters, Louise Monty of St. Johnsbury, VT, Theresa and Robert Dimick of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Marie and Jamie Dimick of Cabot, VT; his brothers, Michele and Therese Monty, and Alfred and Anita Monty of Barre, VT; his sisters, Jacqueline and Marcel Vozzella of Westwood, MA, Jeanne Della Bianca of Bristol, CT, and Lise Leary of Newark, DE; two close nieces and their families, Tina and David Miller and grandsons, Michael and Matthew Miller of Littleton, NH, and Sheena and Sean Sullivan and granddaughter, Serina of Twin Mountain, NH; in-laws, Lawrence and Lorraine Percy of Newport, VT, Stewart Percy and Marjorie Annis, Roland and Theresa Percy of Montpelier, VT, Rudolph and Marlene Percy of Newport, VT, Marion and Maurice Tice of Derby, VT, Jean and Richard Kelley of Newport, VT, Shirley Percy of Essex Junction, VT, Louise Falconer and Robert Kinney of Derby, VT, and Susan and Mario Vachon of Newport, VT, Janet Gregiore; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A son, Stephen Monty, a brother, Paul Joe Monty, his parents, Charles and Valeda Monty, and his in-laws, Willie and Alice Percy predeceased him.

SERVICES  The family will receive friends on Friday, September 9th at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton, NH from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen E. Bascom, Sr. officiating. A Committal Service will be held on Thursday, September 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery in Littleton.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the First United Methodist Church Stained Glass Fund, 18 Main Street, Littleton, NH 03561.
