Charles W. Nelson

Charles “Charlie” Nelson died with dignity on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the age of 80. He was born and raised in Newton, MA, the son of William P. Nelson and Elizabeth T. Nelson.   He is survived by his wife Miriam R. Nelson, daughters, Sarah Dalrymple, husband William, of Duxbury, MA, and Amy Greenberg, husband David of Newbury, NH, and brothers Peter Nelson and the late William T. Nelson.  Grandchildren, Katherine Dalrymple of Charlotte, NC, William Dalrymple, Palmetto FL, and Charles and Benjamin Greenberg of Newbury, NH.

He and Miriam began their love story at the University of New Hampshire where their first date was Charlie inviting her for a helicopter flight, as he was in the ROTC program to get his flight license.  From there, their love story flew!  Charlie proudly served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam earning several decorations.  

In 1967 they welcomed their first daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, in Enterprise, Alabama.  And in 1970 welcomed another daughter Amy Ross.   Charlie and Miriam enjoyed a life filled with friends, family and good fortune.  In 1984, they decided to start a unique company called “Nelco Products”.   It was a dream of Charlie’s to learn from and move away from the large corporations that were producing cable ties.   He knew to his core that he could better source and serve customers in a much more personal way, as well as be an amazing employer.  As of today, we are proudly celebrating 40 years of Charlie and Miriam’s vision of Nelco Products!

Charlie and Miriam retired in West Falmouth where they enjoyed beautiful sunsets and walks on the marsh with their children and grandchildren.  After many enjoyable years on the south shore of Massachusetts, in 1998 they fell in love with the Lake Sunapee area in NH.  This is where they truly enjoyed their golden years on Lake Sunapee and their tremendous views of cows and mountains on Burpee Hill in New London.   Here, they not only loved the landscape and simplicity, they also immersed themselves in contributing to the community through hospital and local contributions.  Charlie will always be remembered as a witty and compassionate person, always putting others before himself.  He was a loyal husband, father and friend to so many and will be truly missed.
