Charles Wilbert passed away June 4, 2021, at age 85. He was the son of Robert and Mary Wilbert. In his early years he built houses with his dad on the Jersey Shore. After seeing his first play at age 11, writing plays became one of his life-long passions. He was an accomplished playwright and established a theatre company, Schoolhouse Players, with his wife Brenda. He was a beloved teacher at Southern NH University where he taught English and playwriting for fifty-one years. SNHU recently awarded him the honor of Professor Emeritus.
He leaves behind his devoted wife and creative partner of 26 years Brenda; his son, Jim Wilbert; daughter, Julie Wilbert and granddaughter, Abigail Melhus; his brother Bill and wife Sue Wilbert; nephews Brian, Billy, David, Danny Wilbert; and other extended family and friends.
Brenda describes Charles as "The nicest person I've ever met. He touched others with his kindness and thoughtfulness. He had a brilliant mind and compassionate heart."
Charles was interred privately at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord. Donations can be made in his honor to the Community Players of Concord, NH.
