OSSIPEE, NH  Charlie L. Howe, age 87, passed away at the Mountain View Nursing Home on Monday, October 31, 2005.

Charlie was born a son to Ray J. and Ina (Crawford) Howe on September 16, 1918 in Littleton, NH.

Charlie was employed as a Mill right at the Gilman Paper Company and later by the State of New Hampshire Forest Fire Service, where he manned a fire tower for several years, which he enjoyed with his passion for nature. He was involved as a part-time law Enforcement Officer in the Dalton/Lancaster area. He was an intrigal part in the formation of the Dalton Fire Department. Charlie was a former member of the Littleton Odd Fellows and a member of the National Grange. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Charlie is survived by his three children, Ray W. Howe of Harriman, TN, David C. Howe of Groveton, NH, Sharon A. Fuller of St. Johnsbury, VT; their mother, Gwendolyn (Whitney) Howe of Littleton, NH; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Two brothers and one sister predeceased him.

SERVICES -- The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, November 3rd at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen E. Bascom, Sr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Mountain View Nursing Home, c/o Activities Director, 10 County Farm Road, Ossipee, NH 03864.
