Charlotte Y. (Hamel) Galway, 86, of 1276 Hanover Street, died on November 21, 2003, at the Villa Crest Retirement Home. She was born in Manchester on October 7, 1917, the daughter of Alfred and Lorra (Hamel) Auger and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1937 and was a 1938 graduate of the Elliot Hospital Nursing Program, where she received became a registered nurse. Mrs. Galway was the former owner and manager of Charlotte's Lingerie and Uniform Shop for 34 years. She had also been a volunteer at the Elliot Hospital gift shop for many years. She was a charter member of the Ionta International Service Club. She was a member of the Elliot Hospital Alumni Association and the Elliot Associates. She was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church and was a member of the St. Pius Ladies Guild. She was the widow of Richard E. Galway, Sr., who died in 1986. Family members include a son Richard E. Galway, Jr. Of Bedford, NH, a daughter Sandra Rice of Hooksett, NH, four grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: Relatives and friends may call at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 in St. Pius X Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
