Claire I. Plourde

Claire I. (Marquis) Plourde, 94, of 581 Union Street, died November 18, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Nashua on May 18, 1913, the daughter of Paul and Adele (Rousseau) Marquis and had been a lifelong resident of the City. She had worked as a teller in local banks, spoke fluent French and assisted in French translation for the banks. She, along with her former husband Elmer, owned and operated A&W Root Beer near the Amoskeag Bridge. Later she worked for the Manchester Housing Authority. She was an active member of St. Joseph Cathedral parish and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She traveled to Rome with the Bishop and had an audience with Pope John Paul II. Family members include several nephews, nieces and cousins. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 11:00 in the chapel of St. Joseph Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Cathedral, 145 Lowell Street, Manchester, NH 03104. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
