Claire T. (Lamarre) Schwertfeger, 68, of Manchester, NH, died August 14, 2005, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Manchester, NH, on January 18, 1937, the daughter of Jeannette (Kirouac) Lamarre and the late Frank Lamarre and had been a resident of the Queen City for most of her life. She was the widow of Hans Schwertfeger who died in 1995. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School for Girls. Prior to moving to California, she worked in the Payroll Department at the Manchester Union Leader. She lived for a time in Redwood City, California, and later in La Honda, California until her retirement from Delta Star in San Carlos, California in 1996. She returned to live in Manchester in 1996. IN HER LIFE: She is predeceased by her two sisters; Pauline Currier and Doris Marchand. Claire had a great sense of humor, was very independent, extremely courageous, and was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, dining out and she especially loved to spend time with her family and friends. Claire has a niece, Debbie Marchand Bedard of Hooksett, NH; her Aunt Doris and Uncle Phil Smagula of Manchester, her Aunt Terry Allard of Salem, and her loving and supportive friend, Denise Tremblay of Manchester. Family members include her mother of Manchester, her sister, Janet Lamarre of Manchester; her brother, Paul Lamarre of Raymond, NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: A Memorial Reception for Claire will be at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 oclock in Ste. Marie Church. Inurnment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
