Clara May Stone

May 26, 1929 — November 26, 2018

Clara May Stone

Clara was born to Dwight A. and Ruth (Murden) Monson on May 26 1929 in New Haven Connecticut. At age 8 Clara became the adopted daughter of her beloved "Nana", Lillie Fortes. At 21, Clara dedicated her life to the Bahia faith and taught the faith till the end of her life in both words and deeds.

Clara married Oscar Stone in 1959 and had two children, Stephen Stone of Connecticut and Lynna Jackson of Marlboro VT, and was Step-Mother to Virginia Culbertson of California and Priscilla Sharp of Pennsylvania. Clara is survived by her children; her son-in-law Jack Jackson, a daughter-in-law Sima Broza, 3 grandchildren, Shoshana, Daniel, and Ilana; and 4 great-grandchildren, Asher, Kohelet, Micah, and Rafael. In addition to her family, Clara is survived by wonderful friends too numerous to mention.

Clara was an independent and strong woman who worked hard to provide for herself and her family her whole life. Her strength and independence was an example to all who knew her.

Clara's last years were spent in Vernon, VT in the dedicated care of Vernon Homes. The care provided by every staff member, and the tremendous love and compassion shown by her "Vernon Hall Family" greatly enhanced her last years. For that loving care, Clara's family will be forever grateful.

Donations in Clara's memory may be made to the charity of your choice or made to Vernon Hall, 61 Greenway Drive, Vernon, Vermont, 05354.
