Claudette Martin Blais, 88, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Edward Blais.
Claudette was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada on October 1, 1938, to Leon and Adrienne Laperle.
Claudette was a strong, loving, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her strength and determination were an inspiration to all who knew her. At the young age of 47, she faced the devasting loss of her beloved husband, Marcel Martin. Left to navigate the world, she became an anchor for her family, showing quiet, fierce resilience that defined her character. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2013, she proved her strength time and again -courageously fighting and surviving the disease. She later faced early-onset Alzheimer's disease with the same strength and resilience that had always defined her. Throughout the challenges of illness, her spirit remained unbroken and her enduring devotion to God and deep connection to her church community sustained her. Even during the most difficult times, her faith offered her strength, comfort and hope.
Claudette’s love for family knew no bounds. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. She poured her heart into her family, ensuring they always felt safe, cherished, and unconditionally supported. Her warmth was a constant comfort, and her home was a sanctuary of love.
Along with her husband of 26 years, Edward Blais, Claudette is survived by her children: Joanne Craighead of Manchester, whose husband, Rodkey Craighead, predeceased her; Cyndi Martin-Barna of Manchester; Helen Laprise of Manchester, whose husband, Tony Laprise, predeceased her; and Debbie Martin-Demers and her husband, Fred Demers, of Pembroke.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Troy, Kyle, Dylan, Cody, Ambre, Brye, Alex, Joe, Jake and Sam; her great-grandchildren, Axel, Colin, Cameron, Sophia, and Benjamin; and her siblings, Marcelle Laperle, Colette Gosselin, Liliane Beaulieu, and Guy Laperle.
Claudette was predeceased by her first husband, Marcel Martin; her siblings, Raymond Laperle, Joyce Silloway, and Vivian Fillion; and her parents, Leon and Adrienne Laperle.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held on November 16, 2026, 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony's Church, 172 Belmont Street, Manchester, NH, followed by interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Claudette's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Dana-Farber Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Manchester, NH.
