Colette M. (Fortier) Dion, of Manchester, passed away May 8, 2010 at Villa Crest Nursing Home. She was born in St. Pierre Baptiste, PQ, Canada on February 4, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Claudia (Poirier) Fortier and had lived in Barre, VT from 1959 to 1993 and then moved to Manchester. She had worked for Sprague Electric for 10 years until her retirement. She was a parishioner of the Parish of the Transfiguration and a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne. She was the widow of Albert J. Dion who died in 1981. She was an excellent cook and loved to garden, entertain and was involved in volunteer work. Family members include two sons, Jean Marc Dion of Manchester and Daniel Dion of Goffstown; six daughters, Laurence Laurie Gagnon of Litchfield, Jacqueline Proteau of Lambton, PQ Canada, Diane Robidoux of Manchester, Lucille Sorrell of Litchfield, Lucie Ducharme of Dunbarton, and Gervaise Horion of Manchester, 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Gerard Fortier of Canada; a sister, Cecile Turgeon of Canada; a half brother, Jean Charles Fortier of Canada; two half sisters, Priscille Vigneault and Lynn Fortier both of Canada; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Parish of the Transfiguration Church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Barre, VT.
