Colette M. Provencher, daughter of Albert Cote and Mary Louise Potvin, passed away peacefully at her home on March 4, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on September 21, 1934, in Montreal, Canada, Colette found her way to the United States, where she would eventually become a citizen in 2003.
Colette dedicated many years of her life to her career, starting with seven years at Manchester Mills and St. Peters Home. However, her true passion emerged during her long tenure at West High School, where she worked in the cafeteria for 31 years before retiring.
On May 11, 1968, Colette married her husband, Gerard "Chic" Provencher, with whom she shared a long and beautiful marriage until his passing in 2004. Colette enjoyed various hobbies including cooking, knitting, painting diamond beads, ceramics, playing card games, and enjoying tranquil walks with her dog Shadow. She had a love for traveling to many various places with family and friends and cherished her yearly summer vacations at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, creating lasting memories with her family.
As an active parishioner of St. John the Baptist, which later became the Parish of the Transfiguration, she attended services regularly, starting from her first visit in 1968. Colette was kind and selfless, committing her spare time to knit hats for newborns in the NICU at Catholic Medical Center.
Colette is survived by her son, Martin Provencher of Manchester NH; her sister, Rita (Cote) Guilbault of Montreal Canada; her acting grandchildren who she helped nurture, Valerie, Shayna, and Craig; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory forever. She is predeceased by her siblings: Roger Cote, Denise (Cote) Grenier, and Theresa (Cote) Trudel. Who were all from Montreal Canada.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Colette's life will be held on March 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes on 150 Coolidge Avenue in Manchester, NH. A Mass will follow at the Parish of the Transfiguration at 11:00 AM, concluding with a service at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Colette M. Provencher will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit, leaving a lasting mark on all who were fortunate to know her.
