Colleen C. Brockway

Colleen Carroll Brockway, of Bedford, NH, died on September 12, 2023, after an eight-month battle with EHE cancer, at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH.

Colleen was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1966 to a delighted Gail (Carroll) Adinolfi and David Adinolfi in Schenectady, NY. She was their firstborn, beautiful baby girl with big blue eyes. Raised in Ballston Spa and later Cortland, NY, she graduated from Cortland Jr./Sr. High School in 1984 and was an honor student as well as editor of the high school’s newspaper.

Colleen was an English major at Union College, in Schenectady, NY. She enjoyed working at the Writing Center and loved her time spent at Union - graduating in 1988. Her brother and father both graduated from Union as well.

As an avid photographer, Colleen was well known to be a shutterbug.  She took all of the pictures at family events and asked for a camera every Christmas. She would frequently give her photographs as gifts to family and friends.

She was a Senior Commercial Underwriter at Acadia Insurance for over 25 years.  She had worked in the insurance industry for 35 years starting in Aetna’s underwriting training program.  She loved her Acadia coworkers and enjoyed being part of the team, taking on extra assignments and suggesting improvements and new ideas.   She was known as a tough negotiator, while being the kindest colleague.

Colleen cherished her family most of all. She had two younger siblings, David Adinolfi of Raleigh, NC and Elizabeth West of Waxhaw, NC who often would tease her relentlessly, but loved her completely. Her husband of 32 years, Rob, and her son, Bobby, were her world. She was so proud and cherished “her boys”. And, they loved her beyond measure.

Her mother preceded Colleen in death and her family is happy to know they are reunited, a fact which helps them in her absence as their wonderful daughter, sister, wife, and mother.

A service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 23 at Saint Elizabeth Seton in Bedford, NH.  In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to donate to the Bedford Public Library’s foundation. Colleen volunteered at the library and libraries were among her favorite places on earth.
