Colleen M. (Garrett) Michael, 86 died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Vernon Green Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born in St. Albans, VT on May 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Ira W. and Mary Lou (Derosia) Garrett.
She graduated from St. Mary's High School in St. Albans. Colleen was employed as a bookkeeper at Eveready Battery Company and Fonda Container Company in St. Albans, retiring in the early 1980's.
Colleen was a lover of gardening she was especially fond of flowers. In her later years she enjoyed collecting and drying flowers for card making. She traveled extensively in her retirement. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Colleen was well loved by her many friends from St. Albans, VT, from her winter home in Hobe Sound, Florida as well as from Vernon where she lived later in her life.
She is predeceased by her husband, Daniel J. Michael and a brother, Jerald Garrett.
She is survived by two daughters, Valorie LaBelle and her life partner Michael F. Drexler of Vernon; Deborah Myers and her husband Garry Myers of Colchester; four grandsons, Todd Hebert and wife Dawn, Christopher LaBelle and life partner Shawanda Hill, Jason LaBelle and wife Bethany, Shawn Hebert and wife Sandy; a sister, Shirley Ploof of Swanton and ten great-grand children.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT, 05301, on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 4PM ? 7PM. Memorial donations may be made to The Gathering Place, 30 Terrace St., Brattleboro VT 05301. Condolences may be offered at www.kerwesterlund.com.
