It is with a heavy heart that we share the solemn news of the unexpected passing of Colleen L. O’Brien, 57, on May 31, 2024.
Born in Columbus, Ohio on July 29, 1966, the daughter of James and Beverly O’Brien.
Colleen was a very dedicated and hard working person. Most proud of her career with the VA Hospital. For over three decades, Colleen served as ward secretary, file clerk, mail clerk, and Advanced Medical Support Assistant at the Manchester VA Medical Center. Colleen played an instrumental role in daily operations in Primary Care. Her unwavering compassion, vibrant spirit, and tireless work ethic touched the lives of countless veterans and staff members alike. Colleen was more than just a great colleague; she was a mother, a grandmother, and a true friend. As we mourn this profound loss, we find solace in the many lives she touched and the legacy she leaves behind.
Colleen is survived by her two children, Chad Gordon and his wife Monica, and Melissa Ricker and her husband Eric all of Manchester; her grandchildren, Kairi Gordon, Jayson Ricker, and DJ Berry; her sisters Donna Haspel and Patricia Hazlett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her significant other of many years, Bobby Gordon; and brother James Oxford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Colleen’s memory may be made to Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Rd, Manchester, NH 03102 or any organization related to Veteran Services.
A celebration of life will be held on July 6th from 4-8pm at Happy Garden Restaurant, 47 Hamel Drive in Manchester. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
