Conrad G. Labrie, 80, of Bedford, died October 23, 2006 at the Hospice House in Concord.
He was born in Manchester on September 16, 1926, the son of Omer and Victoria (Melanson) and had been a Manchester resident for fifty years before moving to Bedford thirty years ago. He attended Hevey Grammar School, Ste. Marie High School, St. Francis College in Biddeford, ME, and graduated from St. Maryâs Seminary in Baltimore, MD, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Labrie worked for 42 years at Pandora Industries, where he served as Vice President of Production Control and Inventory Planning. He was also the owner of CON-DOR flea market and discount store in Manchester for many years. After his retirement in 1990, he worked part-time for Dun-Bradstreet as a bankruptcy court reporter for 14 years. He did volunteer work for New Horizon and as a guardian ad lidem for CASA. He also gave a monthly Bible study class at Ridgewood Health Care Center for over 15 years. Mr. Labrie served as Treasurer and Vice-President of Full Gospel Business Men and as President of the Bedford Senior Citizens group for several years. He also served on the Bedford Senior Advisory Committee. Mr. Labrie was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Seton parish, where he taught the 6th grade religious education for three years. He was a second-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 5260, Our Lady of the Cedars.
Family members include his wife, Jean (Sprague-Knisley) Labrie of Bedford; two daughters, Diane Gauthier of Goffstown and Ginger Higgins of Manchester; a son, Gary Labrie of Wear; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a step-daughter, Mary E. Knisley Moore of Leesburg, FL; a step-son, Reuben E. Knisley of Sanbornville; two sisters, Marie Pothier of Scarborough, ME and Jeanne Riel of Manchester; two brothers, Aime Labrie and Herve Labrie, both of Manchester; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
