Damus E. Champagne

Damus E. Champagne passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday January 12, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Lois (Pineo) Champagne, daughter, Lisa (Champagne) Gibson (husband Doug Gibson), and son, Mark Champagne (wife Lisa Masoner), many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Born February 18th, 1939, to Damus W. and Ruth (Osgood) Champagne, Damus grew up in Bethlehem and attended St. Rose of Lima and Bethlehem High School where he met the love of his life, Lois. They were married for 65 years with lots of love, laughter, and adventures.

Damus graduated from NH State Technical College in Manchester, NH as a professional automobile mechanic. He followed in his father’s footsteps and worked for the State of New Hampshire at Cannon Mt. for 40 years and retired at the age of 60. Damus rose to the position of Equipment Mechanic Foreman and saw many changes at Cannon. Damus was a family guy, car guy, and fixer of many things. Many evenings were spent in the shop tinkering with his toys or someone else’s. His great smile, the twinkle in his eyes, and his exceptional sense of humor will be missed by many.

No formal services will be held at this time. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of family. A celebration of life will be held in early summer.
