Daniel J. Bell

Daniel J. Bell, 72, of Manchester, NH, passed away on December 24, 2024, with his family by his side.

Born in Manchester on August 26, 1952, he was the son of Frank Bell and Theresa (Mooney) Bell. After graduating from Manchester Memorial High School, he proudly served in the United States Army.

Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Lillian Chalifour, with whom he was married 45 years. Daniel was a family-oriented man and together they raised three sons.

Daniel enjoyed a fulfilling career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service where he devoted 35 years of his life until his retirement from the Nashua Post Office. His work allowed him to connect with countless people along his routes creating lasting friendships with both colleagues and customers alike. Daniel was known for his selflessness and willingness to help anyone in need. He brought joy to many through his witty remarks. He enjoyed spending time with his extended family, especially on camping trips and at backyard barbecues.

His hobbies included taking trips on his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife and fellow bike enthusiasts in the family. He belonged to a golf league for many years and participated in several tournaments. For the past few years, Sundays were particularly special as he would indulge in Dunkin Donuts coffee days filled with laughter and companionship.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Lillian (Chalifour) Bell, and his three sons, Derek, Bradley and Gary Bell, and by his siblings, Ernest (Skipp) Bell, Frank Bell, LeeAnne Bell and Jane Langley, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends who enriched his life.

A memorial gathering in honor of Daniel will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium at 243 Hanover St. Manchester, NH. A graveside service will follow on January 7, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
