DANIEL PRATT NUTE

LITTLETON: Daniel Pratt Nute, 93, completed his life's journey peacefully at the CRVNA Hospice House in Concord on November 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 11, 1924 and raised in Littleton, he was the son of John Billings and Nellie Heald Nute. Dan graduated from Littleton High School in 1942 and remained a town citizen his entire life, albeit the last nearly six years in spirit while he resided at Granite Ledges, an assisted living facility, in Concord. Dan was married to his beloved wife, Ruth, for over 54 years.

Dan served three years in the U.S. Army stationed in Louisiana & Homer, Alaska. He was a N.H. licensed land surveyor and worked as a surveyor and a survey party chief for over 40 years in the State of New Hampshire's Department of Transportation. Dan was a volunteer fireman for a brief time, taught ski lessons at Mt. Eustis and performed ski patrol duties at Cannon Mountain.

He and his family enjoyed many summers at the family camp on Forest Lake which brought numerous memories that his children look fondly back upon.

After his retirement, Dan volunteered for 22 years for Meals on Wheels
through the Littleton Senior Center. He, along with his wife, volunteered at the Littleton Historical Society. They were the recipients of the 2000 Grafton County Service Award.

Memberships during his life included the Freemason Society and the Littleton Elks Club. He served on the Littleton Cemetery Board of Directors, Town of Littleton Budget Committee, and the Mt. Eustis Ski Slope Redevelopment Committee.

Hobbies included tending his impeccable lawn and gardens, home improvements, feeding his birds, trading cars, watching town meetings and other local events on TV, the Red Sox, and spoiling his grandchildren and pets.

Dan is survived by three children: Janice Nute Severance (Melvin) of Concord; David Nute of Hooksett; and Jeffrey Nute (Pamela) of Littleton. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law, Linda Nute, of Bedford and son-in-law, Kevin Cronin, of Manchester. He was proud of his grandchildren Alison Tollner (Drew) of Amherst; Sam Nute of Kittery, Maine; Jocelyn Nute (fiancé Jesse Curell) and Emily Nute of Littleton; and great-grandchild, Sophia Curell. He was also looking forward to the arrival of baby Curell, his second great-grandchild, later this month.

His wife, Ruth Perry Nute, whom he wed on September 17, 1949 predeceased him in 2004 along with a daughter, Debbie Nute Cronin, in 2005. The youngest of nine children, his siblings have all predeceased him: Paul Nute, Isabelle Ross, Ralph "Buddy" Nute, Helen Clark, Brigham Nute, Alice Sullivan, Louise Peabody & Dorothy Whitcomb.

SERVICES -- A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 11:00 a.m. at the Littleton Community Center, 120 Main St., Littleton. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

The family is so grateful for the wonderful care given to Dan during the nearly six years he called Granite Ledges his home.
