David Steven Bernard, 36, passed away at his home on May 3, 2020. Born in Nashua, NH on August 10, 1983, he was the son of Steven and Diane (Landry) Bernard.

David was raised in Litchfield, NH and was a 2002 graduate of Alvirne High School. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after being stationed in both Korea and Iraq. Upon return to civilian life, David studied culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu, where he participated in the competition team and graduated with high honors. He served his internship at the Stonehenge Restaurant in Tyngsborough and later worked for Bedford Village Inn.

In his younger years, David was a dedicated parishioner of St. John's in Hudson, where he was in the youth ministry and served as an altar boy. He spent his summers as a counselor at the Fatima Summer Camp. David was a passionate cook who relished being in the kitchen, even when not at work. David was a talented wordsmith who loved writing, especially poetry. In his spare time, David also enjoyed building things with Legos. He was a kind person who had a love for animals, especially his pit bull, Kahlua.

David is survived by his parents, Steven and Diane Bernard of Litchfield, NH; his sisters, Rachel Malette and her husband Ryan of Merrimack, NH and Marie Bernard of Merrimack, NH; his uncles, James Landry and his wife Tammy of Greenville, NH, Kenneth Landry and his wife Sonya of Florida; and Gary Bernard and his wife Nancy of Nashua, NH; his aunt, Annette Lessard of Nashua, NH; his nieces, Abby and Ellie Malette; and his cherished dog, Kahlua. David was predeceased by his grandparents, Normand and Rachel Landry and Roland and Rita Bernard; his uncle, Robert Lessard; and his cousin, Daniel Lessard.

A Celebration of David's Life will be held at a later date to be determined. He will be laid to rest at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
