David M.C. Blackhurst Derry, NH Age 75 of Derry, died Wednesday February 8th at Oxford Manor Nursing Home in Haverhill, MA. He was born on June 10, 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland the son of John H. and Agnes (Campbell) Blackhurst. He had lived in Saugus, MA. for over 40 years, before moving to Derry in 1998. Mr. Blackhurst had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged. He worked as a photo engraver for the Christian Science Monitor for many years, and retired in 1989. He had also worked freelance for both the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald newspapers. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, as well as dancing and singing. A proud Free Mason, he was a Past Master of the Fourth Estate Lodge, and a longtime member of St. Johns Lodge, A.F. & A.M. both in Boston, MA. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, May I. (Gourley) Blackhurst of Derry. Son David K Blackhurst and his Fiancé Natalie Hall of Derry. Daughters; Alison J. Kivikoski and her husband Robert of Manchester and Lindsay J. Germanos and her husband George of Shrewsbury, MA. Sister Anne Treadwell of Marshfield, MA. 6 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive him. Friends and family are invited to a reception at The Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel 243 Hanover Street Manchester on Saturday February 11th from 12:30-1:30 PM. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, at a later date.
