David Greene, a dedicated educator who touched the lives of many, passed away on April 6, 2024, with his wife at his side after being diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia) in 2019. He was born on March 19, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after which he would move to Wilmington, VT where he spent his childhood.
David's career was marked by his time spent teaching and later serving as an assistant principal at Parkside Jr. High. After his retirement as an educator, David drove school buses for the Manchester school system, which he greatly enjoyed.
A proud alumnus of Keene State, David furthered his education by earning a master’s degree in education from Keene St. and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Administration and Supervision (CAGS) from the University of New Hampshire.
Outside of work, David found joy in woodworking, umpiring baseball & Little League games, and pursuing his passion in photography. He was a lifetime member of the National Education Association and a member of the Manchester Area Retired Educators Association. David was also a long time member of the Masons in Vermont. However, above all else, David's family held a special place in his heart. He loved his wife Laurie dearly and found immense joy in spending time with his two children and three grandchildren.
David was predeceased by his father H. Kendrick Greene, mother Margaret (Covey) Greene and brother Douglas Greene.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend for 58 years, Laurie Greene; son Kyle Greene (Lynn); daughter Meghan Sylvain (Steve), brother Donald Greene (Claudia), grandchildren Fletcher McGee, Garret McGee & Noah Greene, as well as nieces, a nephew, extended family, and numerous friends.
David's funeral will be held on Friday, May 24th at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Manchester with a Mass at 11:00 am followed by burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Goffstown at 12:15 pm.
David will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to education, and unwavering love for his family. Donations in his memory can be made to the ALS association or a charity of your choice.
