David C. Milliken died October 31 at Hospice House in Concord after a lengthy illness. He was born in Concord on January 9, 1939, the son of Carlton S. and Dorothy (Clare) Milliken. He was a lifelong resident of the Concord area and a member of St. Paul�s Church. He graduated from Concord High School in 1956 and attended UNH; he received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army and in 1970 graduated from Plymouth State College. David was a dedicated career employee of the State of NH where he held accounting and business supervisory positions with the Department of Administration & Control, Department of Education and what is now the Community College System of NH. When he retired in 1994, he was a professor at Great Bay Community College in Stratham. David�s passions were his home and family, golfing, gardening and genealogy. After his retirement, David and Carole sold their Dunbarton home and became full-time RVers, traveling throughout the US until 2006 when illness brought traveling to an end and they settled back in NH at White Rock Senior Living Community in Bow. Courage, grace, dignity and quiet acceptance--these are the words that sum up David�s last years and serve as a legacy to his family and friends. Members of his family include his wife of 47 years, Carole (Avery) Milliken of Bow; sons Jeffrey Milliken and his wife Darlene of Concord, and Eric Milliken and his wife Kim of Contoocook; his beloved grandchildren David Milliken, Connor Milliken, Thomas Story, and Sara Nelson; sister Virginia King of Concord; and brothers Carlton Milliken and James Milliken and his wife Susan of Concord and many nieces, nephews and friends. A beloved brother Don Clare Milliken and parents Carlton and Dorothy Milliken predeceased David. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 7 at 4:00 pm at St. Paul�s Church, 21 Centre Street, Concord with the Rev. Kate Atkinson officiating. A private urn burial will be held at a later date at Soucook Cemetery, Concord Heights.
