DAVID LEO MONAHAN

HAMPTON, NH -- David Leo Monahan, age 75, passed away after an extended period of declining health in the early morning hours of March 20, 2020 in Hampton, New Hampshire where he had resided for the past 9 years near family. He was born November 12, 1944 at the Morrison Hospital in Whitefield, NH to Helen Pearl Ingerson (d. 1999) and Leo John Monahan (d. 2004).

David graduated from Whitefield High School in the class of 1962. He received an associate degree in accounting from Pierce Business College. During summers, he was both a caddie and a lifeguard at The Mountain View Inn where he met his wife, Donna Radsky of Berlin, NH, with whom he had two daughters.

He began working at the Whitefield Savings Bank as a teller in 1964 and later as bookkeeping manager until 1978 when he became the administrator of the Morrison Nursing Home where he worked until 1986.

While raising his family in the 1970's and early 80's he was an active and respected community member in his hometown. David was a member of the Whitefield Lions Club, Volunteer Fire Department, served as treasurer for both the Town of Whitefield and the Whitefield Fire District, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Morrison Hospital, and a board member of the White Mountain Regional School District from 1976-1986. He was known for his intelligence, pragmatism, quick wit and disinclination to leave Whitefield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and a good game of broom ball and horseshoes with his friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and was strongly loyal to his friends. David instilled the values of hard work, responsibility, and good humor in his daughters.

David is survived by his two daughters Kelley Stafford of Stowe, Vermont and Molly Harrigan of York, Maine. Sons-in-law Robert Stafford and Thomas Harrigan, and grandchildren Riley, Sarah, Rose and Rachel Stafford, and Alex and Grady Harrigan. He also leaves a brother, Michael J. Monahan and his wife Carol, of Houston Texas, a nephew Joel Monahan and his wife Summer and children Calla and Cash and nephew Chase Monahan.

David's family is profoundly grateful to the staff at Genesis Oceanside Center and Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care for the care they have provided him over the years and their appreciation of his sharp wit and good heart.

Services will be held at a later date and are in the care of Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home in Littleton, NH. Until that time, David's family would gratefully welcome any happy memories people may wish to share online at www.pillsburyphaneuf.com.
