David F. Sweeney, 74, of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in the comfort of his home.
Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Francis H. and Dorothy L. (Fisher) Sweeney. Raised and educated in Manchester, David proudly served in the National Guard for 8 years.
Prior to retirement, David was employed by the United States Postal Service. Following his retirement in 1992, he worked as a gunsmith at Riley Sports Shop in Hooksett. During retirement, David loved to spend time in nature and enjoy the company of his loving family.
An avid outdoorsman, David was a New Hampshire Fish and Game Hunter Safety Instructor and NRA Lifetime Member. He was dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a scout leader for many years. A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed.
David is survived by his two daughters, Linda Ziemba of Manchester and Kathleen Czaja of Manchester; four sons, Kenneth of Raymond, Shawn of Hooksett, Brian of Manchester, and Bruce of Manchester; ten grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Laurette (Girard) Sweeney and his son, David "Butch" Sweeney.
Arrangements: Assisting the family with arrangements is the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, NH. The family has requested that services be private. Expressions of sympathy may be made in David's memory to a charity of one's choice.
