Dean S. Fenderson, 81, died October 16, 2005 at Villa Crest Nursing Home in Manchester. Dean was born on February 5, 1924 in Ashland, Maine, the son of Daniel and Bertha (Farwell) Fenderson. He grew up in Maine, worked on the family farm and spent his free time in the woods hunting bird and deer. After graduating from Hartland Academy in Maine, he joined the US Navy where he served his county for four years. Dean was a veteran of World War II and served aboard the USS Cowpens. He returned to Maine and married L. Jeannine Bradstreet. They moved to the seacoast, residing in Portsmouth, Kittery and North Hampton. He was trained as an automobile mechanic however spent a majority of his career at the Naval Shipyard where he was a transportation foreman. Dean was an outdoor enthusiast who throughout his life, enjoyed hunting, fishing, clamming and gardening. He was a member of the NRA and American Legion Post 67. He and his wife had spent 48 years together prior to her death in 1996. Mr. Fenderson was a loving husband and father. Family members include; one daughter Claire R. Scanlon of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his loving wife, Dean was predeceased by a daughter, Dena G. Racca who died in 1995. He was the last of nine siblings. IN HIS LIFE: Dean was a loving grandfather to three grandchildren, Anissa Burnett of New York City, Seth Wingate of Auburn and Drew Wingate of Auburn. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 29th at Noon at the Longmeadow Congregational Church in Auburn. Burial will be in the family lot of Fairview Cemetery in Canaan, Maine on Saturday, November 5th at 1:00 with military honors.
