Demetrios âIkeâ J. Liakos, 82, of Manchester, passed away on January 23, 2011 at the Elliot Hospital.
He was born in Manchester on February 26, 1928, the son of John and Andronike (Hatzilelikos) Liakos and had been a lifelong resident of the City. He was a World War II Army Veteran, serving in Germany with the military police. He was a self-employed electrician for over sixty years. He loved going to flea markets, yard sales and auctions.
Family members include his wife of 30 years, Joan (McMillan) Liakos; two step-daughters, Janet Johnson and Robyn Young, both of Clearwater, FL; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Phanyta Oddo of Long Island, NY and Vasilikie Zekopoulos of Manchester; his long-time caregiver, Janice Trippiedi of Manchester; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with a memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. Committal services with military honors will take place on Friday at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
