Demetrios "James" Palangas, 85, of Manchester, passed away at the Elliot Hospital on March 19, 2021.
He was born in Pitheon Greece on December 20, 1935, the son of Arayid and Christalou Palangas. James had worked at Klev Brothers earlier in his career. He was an avid Boston sports fan. He was a long-time member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He enjoyed going to his local Greek coffee shop and socializing with his friends. He loved his grandkids, and they were the center of his life. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Eric Palangas in 2015.
Family members include his wife of 61 years, Maria (Kafkoulas) Palangas; a son, Nicholas Palangas and his wife Jane of Weare; two grandchildren, Thomas Palangas and Sophia Palangas, both of Weare; two sisters, Andromahi Katsiamitas of Alberta, Canada and Marika Nickolau of Greece; and nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Friday from 9 to 11 AM. Funeral services will take place at 11:30 on Friday in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral with burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
