Denis J. Cote, 78, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health.
He was born in Asbestos, QC, Canada, on December 9, 1940, the son of Gerard and Jeannette (Geoffroy) Cote. In 1963, he married Angele Pinard, who he met while living in Asbestos.
He was educated in his hometown of Asbestos as a plumber and steamfitter. He came to Manchester in 1960 to work on his trade. He later joined the United Association Local Union 131 Plumbers and Steamfitters, where he worked for 30 years until he retired.
He played hockey for the Alpine Club and the Maple Leaf team of Nashua. He was an assistant coach for the Manchester Blackhawks and a coach for the Merrimack Bantams. As his son grew up playing youth hockey, he was there for him as a coach as well.
He was a hard worker his whole life - he was a great handyman and loved to help his children and grandchildren when needed. He loved the outdoors; working around the house; making a large vegetable garden; and taking care of his lawn. He loved traveling around the world with his wife, while helping her with ACA/Bon Voyage!, Inc.,during her career. He was a third degree of Knight of Columbus, a member of council 5260 and also a fourth degree of Knight of Columbus, member of Council 0626. He was a member of the Richelieu Club of Manchester, and a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Litchfield, NH.
Denis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Angele Pinard Cote of Manchester; a daughter, Lucie Cote (Scott Blackburn) of Manchester, a son, Richard Cote and his wife, Sandy Breault Cote of Manchester; four grandchildren, Joe Fradette, Manchester, Luke Fradette, Merrimack, Beth Cote (Sasha Barthelemy) Manchester, Abby Cote, Manchester; six brothers, Jean-Guy Cote (Ginette Chaperon) Sherbrooke, QC, Canada, Jacques Cote, St-Hyacinthe, QC, Canada, Gilles Cote {Clemence Bessette) Derry, NH, Gaetan Cote (Patricia Courtemanche) Nashua, NH, Yvan Cote (Rose Cote) Franklin, NH, Rene Cote (Kathy Headlee) Richmond, VA; three sisters, Pierrette Potter, Nashua, NH, Francoise Cote, San Diego, CA, Ghislaine Cote, Sun City, AZ, as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Celine Salvail, in October 2013.
