Derek C. “Walik” Jones Sr., 60, of Manchester, NH, tragically passed away on May 27, 2025. Born on February 20, 1965, in Queens, NY, he was the beloved son of Bettie Jones.
Walik was raised in Irvington, NJ, and made New Hampshire his home for the past 21 years. A man of deep passion and unmistakable warmth, he found his true joy in the kitchen. Cooking was more than a profession for Walik—it was a gift he generously shared with everyone around him. He worked for many years at Phillips Exeter Academy, where his culinary talents were appreciated by students and staff alike. Summers were spent at West End House Camp for Boys in Parsonsfield, ME, where he became a legend among campers, especially known for his famous pulled pork and larger-than-life personality.
A devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Walik enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of fantasy football and playing Madden with his kids. He found peace in grilling outdoors, comfort in cooking for others, and joy in watching classic westerns. Above all, he was a loving father who cherished every moment spent with his children, especially watching them play sports, and treasured the holidays surrounded by family.
Walik is survived by his sons, Derek Jones Jr. and Davis Jones, and his daughter, Paris Beike, along with their mother, Jennifer Beike; his daughter, Jasmine Jones and her two children; his mother, Bettie Jones; his siblings, Katrina, Dexter and Domonique Jones; as well as several nieces and nephews. His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the meals he prepared, and the memories he helped create.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. His spirit will be remembered in every shared meal, every Steelers game watched, and every story told around the family table.
