On July 21st, 2025, Dolores Milagro (Mila) Canta, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with cancer at age 56. She was surrounded by her loved ones during her final days. Dolores is described as someone with strong character, a good sister, mother, daughter, wife. She always thought about everyone else, and did anything she could to help others.
Dolores was born on October 24th 1968 to Simeon Canta and Dolores Castro in the city of Bellavista, Callao in Peru, where she stayed during a large portion of her life. She graduated from the University of San Marcos in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting.
She and her husband Freddy moved to the United States in 2005 with their firstborn son Jose to give him a better future, they settled down in Nashua, New Hampshire where they had their second son Sebastian. She felt pride in having her sons succeed in this new country, with her son Sebastian recently graduating Nashua High School North this year, and Jose graduating from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2023. Despite her illness, she was always a beacon of hope and inspiration to so many others. She will be missed, but her impact on the world will be felt forever.
She is survived by her mother Dolores Castro, sisters Doris Canta and Vilma Canta, brothers Luis Canta and Simon Canta, her husband Freddy Navarro, her sons Jose Navarro and Sebastian Navarro, and her beloved dog Crash. Dolores will be reunited with her father Simeon Canta.
Calling Hours for Dolores will be held on Thursday, July 24th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St. Manchester, NH 03104.
