Dolores Eileen Hurley

Dolores Eileen Hurley, 83, passed away suddenly on August 4, 2018. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 7, 1934 to Frank and Sarah (McHale) Rosner. She was raised with her older sister Patricia and attended Mercy High School on the south side of Chicago. Her family, with three young sons, moved east to Manchester, NH in 1970. Through the St. Catherine's Parish Couples Club, she began lifelong friendships with many people. There were frequent social gatherings where Dolores would play the piano with the group singing along. She was an excellent amateur pianist playing both classical and pop songs. She loved to play cards with friends and family her whole life, from Pinochle as a child with her parents, to a Bridge group later, Hearts with her friends, and recently Pinochle again with her sons. Mid-life, she traveled to many places in the Caribbean Islands, Europe, and South America with her partner, Arthur DeSimone. She was fearful of flying, but loved being there. She was a lover of all animals, especially horses and her cat, Cancun. She loved horror films, especially of the ghost theme.

She worked various jobs such as an insurance secretary, a census worker, and a passenger service agent at the Manchester Airport until age 82. She lifted passenger's luggage and pushed them in their wheelchairs. Sometimes passengers were decades younger than herself. She worked hard to stay completely independent her whole life. She even bought herself a new car six months ago at age 83, negotiating a great deal with a very young car salesman after doing all her research on the internet.

Most of all, she deeply loved her three sons. She loved attending many classical concerts, such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra with her son, Mike. She attended her son Bill's adult baseball games. She loved attending her son Tom's adult hockey games as well. She was always there for them in many different ways. She always said, "Mama do!". She prepared many holiday meals for the whole family, even though she always said, "I hate cookin'!". She was giving, compassionate, a great listener, and had much wisdom. She never wanted to be a burden to anyone, and she focused compassionately on other people. She was fun loving, upbeat, and was loved by everyone. Dolores lived her life with a strong sense of integrity and Christian values.

Her survivors include her three sons, Mike and wife Lisa of Dover, NH; Bill and partner Kathleen Kenyon of Manchester, NH; Tom and partner Sara Wagner of Weare, NH; two grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Daniel Godber of College Station, TX; Kaitlin Hurley and fiancée Josh Gee of Andover, NH. Her Chicago family includes: nieces Kathy, Patty, Debbie, Peggy, and nephews Jaime and Dennis. She was predeceased by her father Frank Rosner in 1973, her mother Sarah in 1983, her sister Patricia in 2012, her ex-husband John Hurley in 2009, and her partner Arthur DeSimone 2013.
