Donald R. Borthwick, 75, of Manchester, died October 6, 2004 at Catholic Medical Center. He was born in Manchester on January 14, 1929, the son of James and Florida (Belisle) Borthwick and had been a lifelong resident of the city. He had worked for Robie Construction Company for 40 years until his retirement. He loved to fish and was an avid gardener and was especially proud of his tomatoes. He enjoyed playing his guitar and his harmonica. He was a member of the Operational Engineers Union Local 98. Donald loved to tinker and fix things for his family and friends. He was the widower of Lucille (Deschenes) who died in 1990. Family members include his two daughters, Joan Swiadas of Candia and Bonnie Borthwick of Somerville, MA; two grandchildren; his companion of 14 years with whom he resided, Lucille LuLu Drouin;three sisters, Muriel Lee of FL, Pauline Gray of Pittsford, NY and Rita Mondoux of Manchester; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Friday from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday morning at 10:00.
