Donald B. Fitzgerald, 66, currently of Massillon, OH and formerly of Goffstown and Manchester, passed away on January 8, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, OH.
He was born in Arlington, MA on July 26, 1945, the son of Robert and Mary (Duggan) Fitzgerald and had been a Manchester resident for over 25 years before moving to OH in 2004. He was a Vietnam War US Army Veteran. He also served in the Air National Guard. For many years, he worked as a master plumber and owned and operated Fitzgerald Plumbing and Heating. He was passionate about his family, friends, work, and flying his remote controlled airplanes. He also belonged to the Flying Misfits Club in NH as well as a club in OH.
Family members include two daughters, Susan Rair of Gilford, and Mary Beth Hill and her husband Scott of Bedford, MA; four step-children, Heather Sheehan of Laconia, Farrah Sheehan-Deselle of Amherst, Todd Sheehan of Newark, NJ, and Caily Sheehan of New Boston; four grandchildren, Timothy John Rair, Nikolas Rair, Alyssa Hill, and Brendan Hill; two step-grandchildren; a brother, Herbert Fitzgerald of Leominster, MA; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Cathedral on Friday morning at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at noon in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
