Donald O. Lavoie, 79, of Bedford, NH died May 29, 2010 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 11, 1930 in Manchester, NH the son of the late Albanie and Rita (Bouthiette) Lavoie. He was educated in Manchester. Donald was a resident of Bedford for the past 57 years. Mr. Lavoie was the founder and original owner of Dons Wholesale Tires Inc in Manchester. Prior to owning his own business he was the store manager for several prominent tire companies. In his early years he drove for Associated Grocers Inc in Manchester. He was a parishioner and usher at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford since its origination in the Bedford Town Hall. Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He also liked carpentry. In His Life: He is survived by his wife of 60 years, whom he married on July 2, 1949 at St. Raphaels Church, Doris (Pereira) Lavoie of Bedford; son, Scott Lavoie of Manchester; daughter, Brenda Brown and her husband James of Bedford; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Brown and Stacy Brown; brother, Kenneth Lavoie and his wife Theresa of Hampton and St. Petersburg, FL and his sister in-law, Louise Pelletier and her husband Raymond of Palm Bay, FL. He was a wonderful, loving and kind husband, father and grandfather to his family and their welfare was the most important thing on earth. He always told his wife and anyone who cared to hear that I love her a little more each day. Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Rd, Bedford on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Committal prayers will follow in the Chapel at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
