Donald C. Stevens

Donald C. Stevens – Manchester, NH Age 74 of Manchester, died Friday August 26, 2005 at Villa Crest Nursing Home in Manchester. He was born October 4, 1930 in New York, NY. The son of Earl and Rita (Hyde) Stevens. He was raised in Whitefield and graduated from Whitefield High School Class of 1948. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged. He spent six years in apprentice training to become a Union Printer. He was employed at The Enterprise in Marlborough, MA in the 1950’s prior to moving to Manchester in 1960. He worked for the Union Leader Corporation in Manchester for 37 years, until his retirement in 1997. He was Past Commodore of the Massabesic Yacht Club. Past President of the Manchester Typographical Union #152. He was a Member of Sweeney Post American Legion, and a volunteer with the Manchester Community Policing Division. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucille (Kane) Stevens of Manchester. Three daughters: Cynthia Sullivan of Weare, Linda Stevens of Cape Coral, FL. And Kathleen Myers of Buxton, ME. One son, David D. Stevens of Bedford. Four Grandchildren: Abigail and Bridget Sullivan of Weare, and Samantha and Bradley Myers of Buxton, ME. One sister, Ruth Margaret Love of Concord. One Brother, Robert E. Stevens of Whitefield. Many nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by a sister, June Ford of Guilford, CT. Calling hours are Monday August 29th from 4-7 PM at the Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium 243 Hanover Street Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 30th at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church in Manchester. Cremation will follow, with interment at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at a latter date.
