Donald E. Stickney, Sr, 88, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Concord Regional VNA Hospice House. He was born on January 18, 1930 in Concord, son of the late Sherman D. and Flora (Potter) Stickney.
He was the husband of the late Helen (Sargent) Stickney who died on August 7, 2016. They shared nearly 64 wonderful years of marriage.
Donald attended military school in Aberdeen, MD. He also served proudly in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He was employed as a Lt. Shift Commander at the NH State Prison until his retirement in 1991. He also worked part time as a Police Officer in Loudon. Prior to working at the State Prison, Donald had worked for several other NH law enforcement agencies.
Donald was a lifetime member of the American Veterans Association as well as a member of the American Legion Post 31 in Penacook. He had also served as Sgt. of Arms and President of Arms in the NH Retired Law Enforcement Assoc., and was a member of the Retired and Disabled Police Chief Organization.
He is survived by; his son, Donald E. Stickney, Jr. and partner Nancy Fortier both of Concord; daughter Deborah Blomquist and husband David of Franklin; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
SERVICES: The family will receive visitors Friday, April 20th from 10:00 – 11:00am at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street in Boscawen. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow immediately at Blossom Hill Cemetery, 207 N. State Street in Concord.
