Donald F. Thompson

Donald F. Thompson, 93, of Tilton, New Hampshire died February 3, 2022, following a brief period of declining health.

 Don was born in Charlestown, MA on August 2, 1928, to Ruth Garvey and Andrew Thompson. Don worked for the Kraft Company for over 30 years. He served in the Army as an Infantry Sargent in both World War II and Korean War. Donald was also the Commander of the Veteran of Foreign Wars both in Reading, MA and Franklin, NH.

 Don was the husband of Carole Thompson. They were married on August 8, 2008 and enjoyed 13 happy years together until Donald’s passing in February 2022. 

Don loved to entertain others and was famous for singing Frank Sinatra wherever he could find Karaoke. He enjoyed vacationing in warm tropics with friends and family. He excelled in the game of cribbage and thought he was the king; he even had a crown. He also loved watching his beloved Bruins, Red Sox, and the New England Patriots.

 Donald is survived by his wife, Carole Thompson; daughter Donna Spangler and husband Matthew; grandchildren Michael Thompson and Erin Thompson; and great-grandchildren Steven, Nathan, Madeline Thompson and Skylar and Stevie-Rose Wilson. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Thompson with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, as well as their two children, Debra and Steven Thompson, and three brothers George, Andrew, and Richard Thompson. 

The family will receive visitors Friday, February 11, 2022, 12:00-2:00pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium located at 172 King Street Boscawen, NH. Interment with Military Honors will follow immediately at The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH.  Family and friends are invited to attend.
