DONALD M. WALLACE
LITTLETON, NH Donald M. Wallace, age 86 of Riverglen House passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009 at Lafayette Nursing Home.
Donald was born on November 21, 1922 in Clinton, MA, the son of John and Mabel (Lathe) Wallace. He grew up in Brookfield, MA and attended the local schools. He also attended Santa Ana Junior College in California and Texas A. & M.
Donald was a retired Marine, serving 20 years. He served in the Pacific in World War II and the Korean War. He flew in night fighters and received many medals including 3 Purple Hearts and a Distinguished Flying Cross. He was also a guard for President Roosevelt in Washington, D.C.
He was a 3rd degree member in the Knights of Columbus. Donald loved sports and was an avid golfer.
He was employed at Grumman Aerospace in Long Island, NY for20 years in public relations. After retirement from Grumman, he did consulting for several years.
Donald leaves his wife of 65 years, Irene Higney Wallace; a son, Donald J. Wallace and his wife, Dyan of Waterford, VT; a granddaughter, Jaime Light and her husband Richard of Niwot, CO; a great-granddaughter, Abigayle of Niwot, CO; and many loving nieces and nephews. Donald is predeceased by seven brothers, Franklin Wallace, Edward Wallace, Royal Wallace, John Wallace, Robert Wallace, Lester Wallace, David Wallace, and one sister, Marjorie Wallace.
SERVICES A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 24th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church with Fr. Marcel Martel as Celebrant. There will be a memorial Mass on July 30, 2009 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in West Brookfield, MA at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in Pine Grove Cemetery.
