Donat L. Benoit, 82, of 55 South Main Street, died December 24, 2003, at Catholic Medical Center. He was born in Manchester on May 10, 1921, the son of George and Melina (Houle) Benoit and had been lifelong resident of the City. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion Jutras Post and Sweeney Post. He was also a life member of the Alpine Club. Prior to his retirement, he was a foreman for Amoskeag Leather Company. He enjoyed playing pool in several area pool leagues. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He was a parishioner of the Parish of the Transfiguration. Donat was the widow of Claire (Begin) Benoit who died in 1995. Family members include three sons, Donat J. Benoit of Goffstown, Ronald A. Benoit of Litchfield and Conrad R. Benoit, of Manchester; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue on Monday from 5 to 8 PM with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home at 8:00.
